Life is a Journey

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left but could say I’ve used everything you gave me.

Wanting to share my life, my goals and my talents through this platform has been a goal of mine for quite some time. Thankfully, God has blessed me with so many opportunities to realize and fulfill my dreams. I have been afforded the opportunity to obtain my MBA, travel the world and serve as Fashion Buying Director for a major retail company. Fashion and the buying industry has been a passion of mine for so long. Long before I can remember, my mom tells stories how she would find me playing dress up in her closet or how I would change my outfits 2-3 times a day... sometimes just to check the mail! I love the fashion world and loved the idea of being a fashion buyer. So while working in retail in college, I interviewed for assistant buying jobs at a major retail company with a buying office in Miami. My first buying job taught me so much about the corporate world ( and the games that one must play) as well the industry in itself. But one thing that I also soon realized was the lack of people of color in leadership roles. African Americans who looked liked me and would be able to offer guidance from that perspective. Of course I think this matters and ultimately affects the upward trajectory for POC in the workforce. Thankfully, I found my footing and I am grateful for the women who took me under their wings and advocated for my success.

Fast forward,I now manage a team of fashion buyers while providing direction for the company's strategic growth plan, I mentor other young professionals in our industry and continue to balance the many demands of my personal life.

Realizing the importance that relatable guidance and empowerment had on me both professionally and personally, I want to be able to help those who are still searching for support . God's grace has allowed me to use my messes, experiences and talents to create ( and continue creating) a beautiful and blessed life for myself and my family. And as life shows you, to receive a blessing one must be a blessing. The birth of Chasing Mrs. Jones was created to help inspire and empower.
